Original review: July 6, 2019Repowered my 245 Aquasport. Replacing the old 225 Johnson ocean runner with a 2019 E-tec 200 ho. This new engine outperforms the old one hands down. The E-tec gets better fuel economy than most 4 strokes. Maintenance is much less expensive than a 4 stroke and reliability is equal to or better than a 4 stroke. My Aquasport tops out at 45 mph with two people, fishing gear and 80 gals of fuel. My typical usage is a 20 mile run off shore with several hours of idle/trolling.
Gets me home no worries! The 200 ho actually puts 220 hp I’m told and with the performance I have experienced, I believe it!
This engine should be seriously considered as a superior alternate to today’s 4 stroke offerings. Original review: April 20, 2019This motor when I first got it on was amazing. But it’s been 5 years and now I have blew the computer on the motor which has cost me 1200 and there was nothing I did.
I went to start it this summer to go out out after winterizing it and nothing. Just a a light on the motor saying the was battery power.
Then I looked through everything then had to take it to the shop which is the only shop that works on this motor. That’s another problem but after them having it for 3 weeks comes back that it’s 1200 to fix and from reading this problem will keep happening. And the 115 just isn’t as powerful as the dealer said it would be. Everything for this motor is so expensive. It’s just crazy.
Original review: March 4, 2019I rated this a 1 star because negative stars are not an option. Purchased the motor (175 E-Tec) in 2016, still has plenty of warranty left. Motor has done nothing but strand me. Latest issues have been start capacitor and bolts shearing off the flywheel for a second time now. Customer service at Evinrude is terrible for a consumer. Neither they nor the dealer can tell me why it has done that twice now. I am glad I still have warranty left but it will eventually be gone.
I will never purchase another Evinrude and will make sure everyone I know is aware of how awful it is. Original review: July 6, 2018I purchased an Evinrude 2007 E-Tec engine after researching all the hype and raves about them.

150 hours complete powerhead failure and replacement due to bad injectors. Over the years I have replaced every injector some 2 times. ECM (main engine computer) failed and burned up! Water in lower unit, from shift seal (not from fishing line at prop seal). Several starters replaced.
All in 1400 hours! Yes Evinrude did do most work under warranty, but I didn't buy this engine to drive back and forth to dealer and miss long periods of fishing time! Did I get a lemon?
Original review: Nov. 10, 2017Purchased an Evinrude E-tec motor and used it sparingly, with regular maintenance, but it blew up only after 380 hours of use. The fuel injector failed to provide the engine with oil/gas and fried a piston.
Now the entire motor is ruined. This seems to be the problem with these motors and Evinrude is not supporting its customers. I called them and they promised to call me back, but no one called. I called them 5 times and Candy, the lady that didn't help me at all, hung up the phone on me. I am seriously upset. Their phone number is 844-345-4277, press 3 and you will get an operator. Original review: July 27, 2017My boat is at the dealers for the fourth time in 2 years due to motor problems with the BRP/Evinrude 150HP HO motor.
It has currently been at the dealers for almost 8 weeks with no resolution to the motor problems. BRP has sent a Tech after a long delay with no results.
They are waiting on another set of parts to try and fix the problem. I've contacted BRP customer service with no help. All I've gotten is lip service and blaming the dealer.
Great waste of my time. No other way to contact BRP to file a complaint with leadership. I have requested a new motor with no result other than, I can't authorize that and neither can the tech.
I have been without my boat for at least 16 weeks. Totally disgusted with BRP and would not recommend them to anyone. No solution in sight. Please help if you can!!! Motor m/n., Customer service ref.

Installed by Evinrude Platinum dealer. Be sure to watch follow up video.Kevin’s 2015 Evinrude 300HP G2.“I have around 20 hours on it and came to the coast this week to do some offshore fishing. Rented a house right on the water with a dock so I could get up, get in the boat and go.
Problems started 20 minutes after I got the boat off the trailer. As I made my turn to put the boat at the dock, I began to trim the motor up some since I did not know the depth at the dock.
Next thing I hear are alarms going off. Several faults are blinking on the screen, I can't remember them all but Engine fault and fuel pump fault were two that I remember well. Anyway, finally limp it to the dock and get it tied up and then shut the motor off. I then try to restart and I have a 'Waiting for neutral fault' Code 36 on my Icon gauge.
I check and double check and know that I am indeed in Neutral. I text my service manager and as I'm waiting, I unhook the motor from power, wait, hook it back up and, waiting for neutral comes on. I get a reply from my service manager and he has me check a few things and calls BRP for some assistance.
BRP finally calls back and gives him the number for the nearest evinrude dealer, Tidewater Marine and I call. I tell the guy what's going on and he tells me to check all my connections. In the time it took for me to get ahold of anyone I now have 4 more error codes.
Main Ground Disconnected (code 33), EMM0 Communications Lost (Code21), EMM0, NEMA bus heart beat locat (Code 20), EMM0 Private bus heart beat lost. After telling me to check all the connections I asked what would happen if that didn't work, Bill tells me he's too busy with his customers to help me, he may be able to look at it in a week or so but 'Good Luck'. I then ask how I am supposed to get it up on the trailer if I cannot trim the motor up since it would be dragging the ground and he tells me to pull out the trim switch and short it out to get it to go up. I thank him for his complete lack of help and am now seriously regretting my purchase. So now that I know I'm on my own I start taking the dash apart, the side mount, the NMEA network trying to find something that isn't connected or shorted out. I eventually take the top and front panel off the motor and the ground wire hooked to the motor isn't connected, the wire is pulled out of the crimp, since I dont have a pair of crimpers that will work, I use some solder and a torch that I had to buy and am able to get it soldered on.
I get everything back together and now my motor trims and starts and appears to be working. So I'm thinking it's fixed and I'm good to go!
Not the case.So the next day comes and I get in the boat in the morning to test drive it to see if everything is ok. It starts right up and I'm on my way, although it doesn't seem to have the power it did. I go about 2 miles and start to head toward the inlet when alarms start going off again. I wasn't able to take pics of the codes cause I'm in the inlet and now my motor is shutting down and no way to trim the motor up. Excessive knock error and another engine error, but not sure exactly what it was because I am now without power and heading toward a sand bar. After the sand bar stopped my forward movement I am now stuck, so again I take off the top and front panel to check the ground and it is solid. I try starting the motor and nothing happens.
I get a neutral code error again and I then disconnect everything from the battery. Once I hook it back up I am able to start the motor but alas, the tide has been going out and what was slightly stuck is fully stuck, I try using the motor to nudge me backward but it seems to have no power, then I get more error codes about the motor and it shuts down again. A passing boater comes to my aide and we are able to push it backward off the sandbar and into deeper water. I get the motor started and limp it back to the dock. The next day I get it started and want to take it up and down the waterway to see if it'll work. I'm at 4400 rpm and going 12 mph, there isn't enough power to get the boat on plane. So now my week is ruined and I have a boat I cannot use and friends and family that were coming to go out fishing, cannot.Several things really bother me about this whole experience. First my trip was ruined and I've basically wasted $1500 on renting this beach house because I am so pissed about the motor issues.
Secondly the idiot at Tidewater Marine who basically told me that since I wasn't his customer, 'Good Luck' with the problems with the 'motor of the future'. And third, I spent $25,000+ on a motor that was supposed to give me piece of mind to go offshore with my friends and family.
